McGregor Drops Training Clips Amid Uncertainty Surrounding UFC 303 Main Event

Amid recent speculation regarding the UFC 303 main event, Conor McGregor continues to train for his upcoming fight against Michael Chandler.

McGregor shared a video of himself sparring in preparation for his return to the octagon.

There has been considerable uncertainty about the fight’s status. A UFC press conference scheduled in Dublin on Monday was postponed just hours before it was set to begin.

McGregor addressed the postponement later that day, citing "a series of obstacles outside of our control" as the cause.

Speculation about the fight being canceled intensified on Tuesday when Chandler hinted on Instagram that he was ending his camp in Florida and returning home to Nashville.

During Wednesday's episode of The MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani stated there is still "great optimism" that the McGregor-Chandler bout will proceed as planned.

Helwani also reported that the UFC has "sent out feelers" to find potential replacements or a new fight for the main event if necessary.

The UFC is highly motivated to ensure the McGregor-Chandler fight happens as scheduled. Dana White announced last month that ticket sales for the event have already exceeded $20 million.

This would mark the first UFC event to achieve a live gate of at least $20 million. The current record is held by UFC 205, headlined by McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez, which was the promotion's first event at Madison Square Garden.

McGregor hasn’t fought since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. The fight was stopped after the first round due to McGregor suffering a broken leg that required surgery.

UFC 303 is set to take place on June 29 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
