Monaco GP: Verstappen Anticipates Tough Battle with McLaren and Ferrari at Challenging Circuit

Max Verstappen anticipates Monaco posing one of the tougher challenges for Red Bull as they aim for victory in F1's most prestigious race for the third time.

The current world champion has clinched five wins out of the first seven Grands Prix, but recently, there's been little daylight between Red Bull and McLaren. Lando Norris secured victory in Miami, and in Imola, he trailed Verstappen by less than a second.

Verstappen eyes the chance to surpass Ayrton Senna's record of eight consecutive pole positions during Saturday's crucial Qualifying session, airing live on Sky Sports F1 at 3pm.

Monaco's narrow track layout elevates the significance of pole position more than any other circuit on the F1 calendar, prompting Verstappen to strive for maintaining his flawless Qualifying streak in 2024.

"It's among the more challenging tracks for us. Historically, Ferrari has showcased formidable strength here," noted Verstappen, who leads Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by 48 points in the Drivers' Championship.

"Moreover, McLaren has surged in performance in the last couple of races. They're certainly ones to keep an eye on.

"Monaco tends to spring surprises. Last year, Esteban delivered an outstanding Qualifying lap, illustrating how circumstances can favor someone feeling exceptionally confident and in sync."
